AB  - Congenital lumbar hernia is rare in the pediatric age group. This report describes an infant with a superior lumbar hernia with herniation of the kidney that resulted in pelvi-ureteric junction obstruction. Surgical repair of the hernia and reduction of the herniated kidney resulted in resolution of the pelvi-ureteric junction obstruction. The literature on the subject is also reviewed.
