Berkowitz’s Pediatrics: A Primary Care Approach offers straightforward, practice-oriented guidance on core information in pediatrics for pediatricians, residents, and medical students. The 6th edition, written by a leading primary care voice with more than 100 authors, provides a comprehensive coverage of hundreds of topics ranging from temperature tantrums to toilet training.

This book is completely reorganized into 15 sections using a systems-based approach. The book includes more than 155 medical chapters (including 5 brand new) review related epidemiology and pathophysiology, then provide detailed advice on what signs to look for, what alternative treatments to suggest, what tests to order, and how to handle your patient.

Each chapter is enriched with figures and examples for improving learning, and a strong evidence-based approach to promoting the highest quality of pediatric care possible.

Also, student worksheets will be posted online in a user-friendly format corresponding to the case study questions of each chapter so that they can be completed in preparation for discussions. Questions for the case study have been improved; tools have been revised, and acronyms have been added as an appendix.

All chapters have been reviewed and updated to address current issues. Five new chapters are included on the following: Health Systems Science, Population Health for Pediatricians, Social Determinants of Health: Principles, Adverse Childhood Experiences: Trauma Informed Care, Commercially Exploited and, Children and Human Trafficking.

The sections of this book offers a light and detailed information on primary care: skills and concepts, health maintenance and anticipatory guidance, head, neck, and respiratory system disorders, hematologic disorders, cardiovascular system disorders, genitourinary disorders, orthopedic disorders, gastrointestinal disorders, neurologic disorders, dermatologic disorders, the new morbidity, chronic diseases of childhood and adolescence.

The book takes a very big step forward in the area of primary care approach as this core information and practice in pediatrics has become one of the most important medical specialties.

I was interested to read this book. Its target would be pediatricians, pediatric nurses and medical students, all settings and pediatricians caring for the pediatric patients.
